Carnaval Comes to the North Fork
It's no secret that Cynthia and Tom Rosicki, the owners of Sparkling Pointe in Southold, love all things Brazilian. They even fly a Brazilian flag out front. So when it came time for the grand opening celebration of their all sparkling, all the time winery, a Rio Carnaval theme won hands down. It was a two-day blast on a hot July weekend, with lively entertainment by authentically costumed Carnaval dancers and music by Long Island's own Brazilian percussion group, Escola de Samba BOOM and a four-piece Brazilian Bossa Nova band (which Tom couldn't resist joining for a few numbers).
The enthusiastic crowd enjoyed Sparkling Pointe's award-winning bubbly along with samples of Cabot Creamery cheese, Alley O's homemade organic cookies and other yummy nibbles.
