She was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Cumberland, Va., to Lancaster and Ida Trent. Raised in Virginia, she graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School in Cumberland.
She moved to Riverhead after marrying Moses Langhorne in 1951, and held many jobs, most recently as a home health attendant.
A member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, she belonged to Living Temple Ministry Church in Center Moriches, where she was president of the Pastor's Aide and Willing Workers Club.
Ms. Langhorne enjoyed taking trips to the South to see her relatives. "She was a loving, caring person who shared her time with family and friends," family members said.
Predeceased by her husband in 2006 and son, Moses Jr., in 1999, Ms. Langhorne is survived by her daughters, Betty Pertillar of Riverhead and Dorothy, of Newark, N.J.; her siblings, George Trent of Riverhead and Gertrude Cox of Baltimore, Md.; five grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted March 10 at Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead by the Rev. James Bryant. Additional services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, Va. Interment will follow at the Langhorne family cemetery in Cumberland.
